Description George Clinton was a soldier and statesman and considered one of the Founding Fathers.  He was governor of New York and served as the fourth vice president under two presidents; only Clinton and John C. Calhoun served as vice president under two different presidents.  He fought in the French and Indian War and during the Revolutionary War supplied food for the troops at Valley Forge.  George Clinton initially opposed the adoption of the U.S. Constitution but withdrew his objections once the Bill of Rights was added.  Clinton was the first vice president to die in office.  Clinton is depicted in John Trumbull’s 1819 painting Declaration of Independence, even though he neither signed it nor was present when it was signed.  The painting appears on the back of the two dollar bill. This U.S. Vice President George Clinton History Mug is part of our U.S. Vice Presidents Series which includes all of the US Vice Presidents. The biographical History Mugs were created to teach and inspire individuals to learn about our diverse and interesting history.  The biographies were researched and written by history enthusiast, Robert Compton.  He colorized most of the historic photos and images used on the mugs, which were originally black and white or sepia-tone.  The images and biographies are imprinted on mugs at his studio in rural Vermont. Mugs are food and microwave safe. To preserve photographic quality we recommend hand washing. Mugs are usually shipped within 3-5 days.
