33rd US Vice President Henry Wallace

Description When Henry Wallace was a boy, his family invited student agronomist George  Washington Carver to live in their home, as racial prejudice prevented Carver from living in the dormitory while attending Iowa State University.  Wallace became the secretary of agriculture under F.D.R. prior to his election as Roosevelt᾽s vice president.  He was a strong supporter of New Deal Liberalism, but his public feuds with other officials made him unpopular with party bosses during WWII and resulted in his being dropped from the ticket in the 1944 election, in favor of Harry Truman.  He served as secretary of commerce after the war. Henry Wallace left the Democratic Party to run for president as nominee of the Progressive Party against Truman in the 1948 presidential election, but lost with only 2.4% of the popular vote. This U.S. Vice President Henry Wallace History Mug is part of our U.S. Vice Presidents Series which includes all of the US Vice Presidents. The biographical History Mugs were created to teach and inspire individuals to learn about our diverse and interesting history.  The biographies were researched and written by history enthusiast, Robert Compton.  He colorized most of the historic photos and images used on the mugs, which were originally black and white or sepia-tone.  The images and biographies are imprinted on mugs at his studio in rural Vermont. Mugs are food and microwave safe. To preserve photographic quality we recommend hand washing. Mugs are usually shipped within 3-5 days.
